Had a lovely lie in on Magnetic Island, although it involved waking up at half past five. Eventually dragged myself out of bed, got packed up, made myself sandwiches and checked out just in time to catch the bus back to the boat and the boat across to the mainland. I had a wander around Townsville, which is a decaying dump of beautiful old buildings housing nightclubs or standing empty.

Also, it's impossible to get swimming costumes here. Why? No one wants to see my belly.

Met the coach and we headed down through Ayr and Bowen, then past the Big Mango and on to Airlie Beach, which is very touristy and absolutely packed with Schoolies. I checked in, got fish and chips, bought a couple of gifts whilst trying to find a swimming costume (still no luck) and then sat on the sea front to watch it. My favourite moment in Airlie Beach: Realising that those seagulls were cockatoos. Purdy!

Cockatoos? So cool! They beat seagulls hands down (as do the giant fruit bats you mentioned before - I love bats).

Fish & Chips *sigh* a universal constant (well, in Britain or Australia, anyway) =)

Just caught up with your travels and hugely enjoying the saga. Would love to be doing a trip like this again. It's been a very long time since I was flinging myself into places unknown. I still remember it ALL!

So, keep posting. We'll keep reading.

(and re your NaNo. The best writing always comes when you write what you want to write. I haven't been reading cause I'm busy. I can if you want some decent feedback. I'll have to go back to the beginning again.
And hey I saw someone looking for the Tybalt story on TW story finders the other day. Someone had already recognised it an put the link. So that proves people like what you write, when they're looking for something some time later to read again.)
