galadriel1010Had a lovely lie in on Magnetic Island, although it involved waking up at half past five. Eventually dragged myself out of bed, got packed up, made myself sandwiches and checked out just in time to catch the bus back to the boat and the boat across to the mainland. I had a wander around Townsville, which is a decaying dump of beautiful old buildings housing nightclubs or standing empty.
Also, it's impossible to get swimming costumes here. Why? No one wants to see my belly.
Met the coach and we headed down through Ayr and Bowen, then past the Big Mango and on to Airlie Beach, which is very touristy and absolutely packed with Schoolies. I checked in, got fish and chips, bought a couple of gifts whilst trying to find a swimming costume (still no luck) and then sat on the sea front to watch it. My favourite moment in Airlie Beach: Realising that those seagulls were cockatoos. Purdy!
