Cardiff Trip Day 4

Day 4 was an awesome day of loveliness with the wonderful Ash.
Met Ash at the train station, and then we located and caught a bus to the Bay. We went to visit Ianto at the Shrine and had to tell someone that it was for a character from Torchwood. We had a further wander around Mermaid Quay and a pootle towards the St David's Hotel, and stopped off at Techniquest for a couple of hours of fun learning.
We proved to be bad at logic puzzles and at playing the pipes and the giant piano, but I did manage to use the crazy cranes to pick up and move one of the blocks.
We bumped into
mercury_pheonix in Techniquest, which was lovely. It did take me a moment to accept that yes, that was definitely her. You all need to stop getting haircuts, okay? Even if it has been a year since I last saw you. Tsk.
Ash and I then went to the giftshop and looked at slinkies, and then wandered further along to sit on the steps near the St David's Hotel to chat for a while, msotly about cricket, before our reservation for afternoon tea.
Tea was lovely, and they provided us with extra sandwiches when they realsied that they'd sent us 4 beef instead of 2 beef and 2 ham. The little cakes were delicious, and even I nearly overdosed on sugar. Nearly ;)
I also discovered a tea I like - orange and cinnamon with plenty of sugar.
After we'd eaten we headed back around the Bay and had a go on the merry-go-round, and then caught another bus up into town. We were planning to go to Wetherspoons and have a drink, but they were all full and noisy, so we went to the ice cream place in the St David's centre instead. Still too full for food, unfortunately, because they had chocolate and meringue sundaes as the special sundae of the day.
We had a show and tell session with holiday photos and writing (her original writing is totally lovely) and then started making our way back to the station.
I dragged her off route to show her the tiled corridor in the library (check it out if you get the chance), and we got a bit distracted by the massive screen which was showing teasers from the new series of Doctor Who and interviews with the cast. We couldn't hear them properly, but we had a squee anyway.
Not long after that I had to put Ash on a train :( And catch a bus back to the hostel, where I dithered on the internet for a bit and fell into bed.
Thanks to Ash for a lovely, wonderful day!
