A little life music

Yet again, it's been ages. So let's have another little
Back in March I took voluntary redundancy from my job of nearly 4 years (if that doesn't translate to other countries systems - they offered people money to go away and I skipped out of there) along with most of my mates. I had a few months off, unfortunately without a housemate so I couldn't travel, and then in May I landed my absolute dream job. I've been there nearly two months now and it's doing my head in a bit, because I was brought in to support a project that hasn't gone live yet, but they're happy enough with me that today they asked if I wanted to stay at least another few weeks. I'd like the role to become permanent or at least longer term, but I know if I don't stay here I want to stay in Leeds.
Working in Leeds has been a revelation. It's been amazing for my social life because so many people I love live and work here. I get texts from my brother asking if I want to go out for lunch, get to meet my best friend for tea, and am meeting former work colleagues for a night out in a couple of weeks. At lunch I can drift into town to do all my errands, leaving the weekend free for actually relaxing. And I have a new housemate, too, so I don't need to worry about leaving the cats all day and can actually go away again.
I've just got back from nearly 2 weeks away, most of it on Orkney with my parents and then a couple of days in Edinburgh breaking the long journey home. Photos to follow once I've sorted them out. Orkney is amazing, even when it's pissing down with rain and cold. We got to see all the big ticket neolithic sites and a lot of the more recent ones, and listened to some amazing cricket when the rain fell. My next big trip won't be until next year, because I have no holiday left until then, but plans are already afoot for a return to Vietnam with the bestie. Between now and then there will have to be some short trips to London, Nottingham, Bath, Cardiff, York, basically everywhere.
And I've finally agreed to learn to drive. My mum's always suggested I get a cheap runaround for the shopping and so I'm not reliant on her and buses, so... I'm going to get myself a Mazda MX5. Because if not now, when?
