From now until I'm settled back in Halifax, I am responsible only for work, selling my flat, keeping it tidy, sorting my scooter out, and possibly dealing with a kitten. The last one is sort of unlikely, but a friend at work has been offered one and already has a dog, so I've said that if the dog won't tolerate the kitten I'll rescue her.

I think it's fairly sensible for me to hold back on everything else. I definitely need to. The last few months have been pretty tough, and the light at the end of the tunnel always seems to be just another tunnel. I have a sort of plan, but I'm buggered if I know what it is right now. In just over a month I'll be back with my parents, with more free time but less money, a scooter, and miles and miles of Pennine glory on my doorstep.

Right now I just want a holiday. Preferably in London, but I'm not picky. Cardiff would be nice, or Birmingham. Just a holiday.

take a weekend trip to the lake district. i'm not sure where you are right now, in the uk (York?), or if you have any time constraints, but in the middle of my exam period I was dragged away for 2 days to oxenholme/Kendal/windermere. literally, I left one morning and returned the next evening and it was enough to refresh me for two more intense months. and it's super cheap. the train, the hostel (which was surprisingly nice), the food.

That sounds like bliss. Sadly I don't have a day off until next Wednesday at the earliest, possibly Friday or even the following week because my friend has been put on the rota for every night next week and has her nan staying over with her, so I've said I'll try to cover her a couple of nights if I can.

The money from those can go into my 'get me out of here' fund.

Ugh, work. But hey, I wish you all the best. May this bad week bear the fruit of an excellent escape. :D

That's a pretty full plate you've got there. It's plenty enough to keep you busy.

Halifax? Really? Sorry, I just finished watching 'Last Tango in Halifax' and have been meaning to look it up to see if it was an actual place. The only one I'm familiar with is in Canada.

Yes, that's Halifax! My parents watched it and said that there was a lot of Hebden Bridge, the next town down the valley from us. (And, as there always is, lots of parking in one town and strolling around the corner into another). It's a lovely part of the world.

We also have a bank. Lots of people I know have had problems with getting people to believe that Halifax is more than the bank.
