It's been a while

So hi! I can't actually believe how long it's been since I was on LiveJournal properly. It's been a bit mad the last few months. Job applications and festivals and tidying and all sorts of busyness.
Work and study wise, things aren't looking brilliant. I got a 2:1 in my degree, which was awesome, but I was guttingly close to a first. One mark this year would have done it, so I'm very much kicking myself over that. I've also been back to college and got an NVQ level 1 in hospitality because it was free and there was a guaranteed interview at the end of it, met some cool people and learned a bit. Not a lot, but a bit. I've been applying for a lot of jobs, not got any of them, but I've had a few interviews recently so fingers crossed.
laligin moved in with me about two months ago, and we've now been together about 11 and a half months. She's still being surprised by my cooking habits, but I think I'm winning brownie points for the brownies.
We've got a holiday booked next month, just a couple of days down in Hay-on-Way and a lift with my parents, which should be awesome. I'm hoping we'll get down to London, but that needs some wrangling (and for me to get a job). One of my Australian mates is living down there at the moment, and I'm hoping to see her before she leaves, and I do love London in the run-up to Christmas.
Which is coming scarily close. I'm doing Messiah again this year, apparently, but beyond that it's all a bit vague. It partly depends on whether I get the job at the pub, which will want me to work Christmas Day :( DNW, but do need to work. I'd really like to see everyone at Christmas, but I know that ain't possible.
Summer has been awesome, if wet. I did Towersey again and did road gate stewarding. It was interesting, and I managed to achieve total gridlock through the careful application of a climbing wall. Long story, but funny in retrospect. We also got a blazing hot day at the seaside for my birthday, which was full of morris dancers :D Like most of my life, really. I might be going back to dancing soon, but we'll see if the team can get back together.
That's about it, really. I've not done any writing lately, despite trying to get JAM back on track, but I'm gearing up for NaNoWriMo as official unofficial assistant ML. Hopefully that will get me writing again. I have a bingo card to work on for Long_Live_Ianto, but it's finding the time and not feeling like I should be writing job applications. Speaking of which, I should go and do some.

Date: 2012-09-14 02:30 pm (UTC)Hay-on-Way, though! That should be fun. I LOVED the bookstores there. (And if you have time, you should drive over to Llanthony Priory. The priory itself is really beautiful, and the drive over there from the village was one of my favorite things we did on our Wales trip last summer. You drive on this tiny road that opens up into the Black Hills, where you can see off into the mountains for forever. <3 Maybe you've been there before? But if you haven't - it's amazing! ^_^)

Date: 2012-09-15 02:43 pm (UTC)I've been to Hay many times, because my mum's best friend and her husband are the bakers there! I dated their son for a while, which went about as well as you'd imagine considering that I'm gay :P Llantony Priory was one of our favourite finds, and we used to go there to collect my dad at the end of one of his long walks, always turning up a bit early to get a pint and an ice cream. We're staying at the Baskerville Arms and we'll have to get the bus out there, so I'm hoping we won't buy as many books as we would otherwise.

Date: 2012-09-15 02:49 pm (UTC)NaNo is awesome, best of luck with it :) I'm back on originals and probably going to base my story entirely on the dares thread X)

Date: 2012-09-15 04:36 pm (UTC)My Nano is based on the idea what if a senior young royal is gay and finds the love of his life at University - press etc would have a field day (and then Prince Harry got up to a stunt I'd not even thought of)

Date: 2012-09-15 05:28 am (UTC)You're a busy person still, and I love the quirky (to me) things you do, morris dancing included. I love Messiah though, would be nice to be singing like that again.
I'm pleased you're well and things are going more or less well. I'm having trouble writing atm too. I finished my first draft of my original novel, jumped into H50 fandom with a few stories and through that might kick start things again, but it hasn't. I guess it will happen again when it's ready. I was thinking of NaNo, but don't have an idea that grabs me enough to be bothered.
Anyway, good to know you're still around.

Date: 2012-09-15 03:04 pm (UTC)Writing comes when it wants to, doesn't it? I've failed NaNo two years in a row now, so I don't think the local group will let me fail again. I had excuses the last two years, now I've run out lol. Can't even remember what I was writing in 2010, so it must have been thrilling.
