I've posted this to my journal as well. It's pretty worrying that the US can shut down a company based in Hong Hong and run by people in New Zealand and Germany just like that with no warning at all, and have the people extradited to the US to stand trial.
I had been wondering when I first heard about SOPA/PIPA could do what journaling platforms which are not US based are available just in case they did decide to have a whole sale shutdown of any sites that might contain pirated material or have it linked from them. But being as they can shut down non-US companies just like that there really doesn't seem to be a point as they seem to want to inforce US laws on the rest of the world.
