Jack followed the bartender's gesture to The Doctor and The Doctor's back to the man now next to him. “His name is Alonso.” He crumpled the note between his fingers and looked up to see the Timelord sliding through the crowd, job done.
He downed his drink and slid from the stool, following his former friend through the crowd and onto the corridor.
“There once was a man named Ianto Jones, who dared to love Jack Harkness. He looked past the flirting and found a spark that he could fan into love.” Jack's voice echoed down the corridor and stopped the Doctor. “And then he died. And no good looking sailor boy could replace him.”
“Don't judge him before you've met him, Jack.”
“You chose him; that's enough evidence. Ianto taught me that I'm more than you think I am.” He shook his head bitterly. “Why are you here?”
“I'm dying.”
Jack laughed mirthlessly. “I know the feeling. Come back with your new face and your new personality, and see if you can be sorry to me too.” He turned and walked away. “And I'll see if I can forgive you.”
