"Captain Harkness?" He'd recognised him immediately, not only as the only crew member waiting for an appointmnet, but also as the man who'd laughed at him when he was out shopping with Theta. He maintained his polite smile as the man abandoned the magazine he'd been reading - Classic Space Hoppers, the current one with the 4185 Sigma Iolanthe on the cover - and stood up. "If you'd like to follow me, sir."

The other man followed him through the foyer and down to his treatment room. He accepted the hanger from Ianto and removed his tunic without a word, unfastening the ornate buckle at his throat with a single flick that Ianto envied and revealing golden, hairless skin over hard muscle. His muscles tensed when Ianto's gaze hovered over his smooth stomach, and he folded his arms and tilted his chin up in challenge. "Where do you want me?"

"Wherever you want to be," Ianto told him easily, indicating the sofa and armchairs and the treatment bed with a sweeping gesture. "Although you'll probably prefer the bed."

He chuckled and made his way over to the bed, stretching out on his front and settling into position with the easy grace of experience. "With that accent you could get me just about anywhere," he said when he was settled. "Where are you from, anyway? I've not seen you around before."

"I'm from Genesis, sir. This is my first turn on the Aurora."

The captain whistled. "That's a long way out."

"It was a long way back in, definitely," he agreed. He made his way over to the drawers that housed the oils and spices and slid it open. "Do you have any preferences or allergies?"

"Cinnamon and vanilla. Allergies."

Ianto shot him a sharp glance, but the other man was looking away from him. It was just a suspicion, and he wasn't paid to suspect things, so he collected a selection of fresh-smelling oils and mixed them to pour into the burners. "Can I ask what you use in your aftershave, sir?"

"I don't use any."

Suspicion crystalised into certainty, and Ianto shrugged it off. He grew up on the fringes, living and playing alongside aliens. It was only here in the home system where the captain, if Ianto's suspicions were right, would have had a struggle to fit in. "That must save a fortune on a ship like this."

"That's definitely one of the advantages." The bed creaked when he shifted, and he sighed. "You kept my presents, then."

Ianto froze with the bottle of massage gel in his hand, hovering over the warming bowl that already had the scented oils in it. "I didn't really know what to make of them," he admitted slowly. "But I appreciate the gesture."

"Red and black suit you." He looked nervous when Ianto turned to face him at last. "Is this a bad time to ask you if you'd come out for a drink with me?"

He gestured with the bowl of massage oils, righting it when he realised he'd nearly spilled them all over the floor. "You're half naked on a bed in my office. I knew the home system had a liberal attitude, but I'm not sure it's that liberal."

The captain - Jack - met his eyes, and Ianto knew that Jack knew that he knew, and that he knew how dangerous that was. "You could have a point there."

Ianto smiled, and set the bowl down before guiding him back into the right position. "I'll give you my commcode before you leave." Next chapter
