Mad Trip Day 12: Surf Camp to Sydney
If you're sharing a dorm room with someone and you get back at 3 in the morning to discover that they're already in bed, what do you do?
a) Use a torch or the light of a phone screen to get to bed quietly without having to turn the light on
b) Blunder around in the dark
c) Turn the light on and apologise for waking them if you do, but get into bed with the light out as quickly as possible. Or,
d) Turn the light on, apologising for waking them, then stand around talking loudly, with the light on, for half an hour, then get into bed with the light off and carry on talking for another quarter of an hour.
If you're drunk, the answer seems to be d.
So I did not get up to look at the dawn, because when my alarm went off I just closed my eyes and hoped to get back to sleep, which I hadn't managed since the girls came in. Oh, and I listened to the rain hammering on the roof. Which was a shame, because when we were 'woken' for breakfast, the world looked all freshly washed and pretty. Of course, I quickly discovered that the tide was in, so I couldn't have got onto the beach anyway, and we were on the wrong side of the headland to see the dawn.
Breakfast was good and unhurried, and we piled onto the bus at seven to head South, on the final leg of the OzExperience trip (Sydney to Melbourne is Adventure Tours Australia, same company, different bus and way of organising stuff). It was a fun journey, with kangaroos and wallabies outside the bus, fairly decent music and some silly games for the final leg. Unfortunately, it was nine hours long, and for the first four, most people were very, very hung over. We had to do an unscheduled stop because one of the girls was sick (she got it all in the bag, it was fine).
We also got to see the Big Banana at Coff's Harbour, which made me happy, although we didn't stop :(
When we got into Sydney we had a tour around and then got dropped off at our stops, and I made my way to the station to wait for Lefaym. She found me by the Christmas tree and brought me home via Woolworth's for food stuffs (including nommy chocolate. Very noticeably higher melting point than English chocolate, though). Yay Lefaym! I met David, the SO, and we chatted lots, and then ate pizza and watched The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang, which made me very very happy. And then to bed, because 9 hours on a bus killed me.

I do not have your number, so I will snag it off her. I will be with you on Friday, I hope, but I need to check with the OzExperience office to make sure that there's actually a bus running. The website's not what you'd call helpful.
