It's been a while. Over a month since my last update, in fact. I've finished all my uni work, thank goodness, and I'm now waiting for my results to find out how I've done. The last few, dissertation, exam and two reports, were all due in within a fortnight of each other, but we got an extension on one of them. It's all done, though.

I've got a conference, a festival, a couple of trips, Eleventh Hour and God only knows what else coming up. All the while I'm starting to apply for jobs, waiting to hear back from the job I really, really want, and generally starting to get Real Life (tm) going again. Need housework and sleep and food. I'll do a proper update soon, once I've got a better handle on what's going on.

But, thing is, I've been away for ages and there is no way I can catch up on my flist, so what is your news? Pull up a seat, grab a cup of tea and a slice of cake if you so wish and let's catch up :) (Suggestions of offline catch-ups are most welcome, but I can't really do anything about them until July at the earliest. Sound like a lot of fun things to look forward to.

Fandom wise I've been fairly busy. I've finally finished A Song As Old As Time (The one with Empath!Ianto and Jack in space) which had been on hold for about 2 and a half years.

So that fic, along with a few others, mean that my word count for posted stories this year is now just shy of 53,000 words (actual typed words who knows - probably over 65k).

I'm organizing

torchwood_las which is a last writer standing contest for all of the Torchwood series. Currently on prompt 2 of round one. The round should run to early August and then be open for sign ups again.

Running a few things on

tw_classic, at the moment there's a women of Torchwood fest going on. Next month it'll be a fic finishing month, then a men of Torchwood fest in July.

Outside of fandom things are pretty much the same as they've been for a while. Alexander is growing fast, he's not three until Sept and already about a metre tall, and turning into a right cheeky little monkey. He's also going to get to be a page boy at my brother in laws wedding in three months time. http://the-silver-sun.livejournal.com/183642.html#cutid1 He couldn't wait to try on the shirt he's going to wear, although it'll be a bow tie on the day.

Wow, that is a lot going on fandom-wise. I'll check out Song - think I was reading it a while back? Memory fails me in this heat lol.

I really miss writing right now. Hopefully I'll be able to get some done this evening, though.

As for me ... the new cats are settled in nicely. The garden is growing nicely, except where said cats thought that it was a spot for them to roll and frolic in and generally flatten everything growing in their way. I'm finally over the rotten cold that has consumed all of last week. Yay for that.

One of our hives swarmed. I was around and for once they were convenient, so I caught the swarm and started a new hive. The old hive swarmed a second time a week later. (They'll do that.) It was actually two mini swarms. We caught one and it combined with the new hive, and they're going great guns.

So much Sherlock fic written. Short pieces, mostly mini adventures, but there's some smut too. I still can't make heads or tails of the prompt site, and it seems that the chatter meme has gone dead. Which is a shame. I think The Avengers is killing all other fandoms.

That's mostly it, I think.

Bless cats - everywhere is a spot for them to frolic in, clearly. Most of my mum's garden has been had by the slugs, but at least they were followed by the long-absent hedgehog.

I didn't know you had hives, that's so cool! I'd love to keep bees one day, but that will require a ~~much bigger~~ garden.

So glad to see you in Sherlock fandom. I'm resident on the rant meme there but I've not had any time to write. Hoping to do some fills for the prompt meme tonight and catch up on some fic. I seem to have been infected with the Mycroft/Lestrade bug.

I shall see you at 11th Hour. :) I have not long got back from Asylum 8 which was like bedlam and only 3 days of catch up is still daunting. Am looking forward to the more familiar chaos of a Starfury con. No idea who/what will be roomies with me but I'll find out soon I hope.

After 11th Hour there's Wales Comic Con, Who at Hoylake, Discworld Con, Vampire Ball and Whitby Goth Weekend. I shall be hoping my car doesn't die during all of that as I won't be able to afford to get it fixed if it does!

On the writing front I finished a 13k word Sherlock fic in collaboration with 2 other LJ friends and we're fairly pleased with its reception.

YAY! 11th Hour is going to be so awesome. I need to sort out changing our room if possible, because they only had twins left on the offer when we booked. So much to do.

Should be at Wales Comic Con as well, and I'll try to get over to Whitby for at least a day. Your schedule looks much like mine, although with fewer folk festivals :P

Ooo, glad to hear about the Sherlock fic. I will hunt that out when I get a bit more breathing space. It's still all go here (henve the very late responses)

And thanks :) I've only attempted two applications so far (not much going on in my preferred field) and one of the forms was so bad I actually couldn't complete it. Not feeling confident right now lol.
