Checking in

Still alive. Still working on my dissertation. Oh god, don't expect to see anything much from me in the next month, because I am nowhere near where I need to be on any of my three final assignments. Unexpected sunshine in March is wonderful, but not helpful.

As an apology for my prolonged absence, have a video of Yorkshire. It was premiered at a conference I went to, and it's just gorgeous. I live here you guys! I live in this astonishingly, jaw-droppingly beautiful place.

Wow, that's a great video! *_* I'm definitely sold, in any case. XD

Good luck with your assignments! <3

Yorkshire is the best place in the world! You should come here.

Thanks hon :)

I've been to York, once, ages and ages ago. I'd like to get back that direction someday, but I'm afraid the nearest is going to be watching that show that was on a few months back about the angel barristers whose name I need to look up.

Anyway, glad you're keeping reasonably well. There is a light at the end of the tunnel (and yours will not be a train.)

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you do get back up here. If you ever do, and if we're still around here by then, you'll have to come stay with me and Laligin.

Eternal Law was the TV series, btw. I saw part of it being filmed and got very excited about the potential for film tourism, but it seemed to be a bit of a damp squib, unfortunately.

[identity profile] madcolt.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
*waves* Happy dissertation thoughts! And perhaps some severe weather to encourage you to stay inside? :)

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello you! You've been missed on the new meme; I'm glad to see you're around.

I can cope without the severe weather lol. The rain is all distracting, especially when we get flood warnings :P We've got cold sunshine at the moment, which is about perfect for keeping me happy, waking me up early, and trapping me indoors.

[identity profile] madcolt.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi!

That's sweet of you! :) I've just had lots and lots of insanity lately.

Cold sunshine sounds lovely...it's very very hot here today, and it's making my whole family stroppy, lol. Glad things are good where you are! :)

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Eek for insanity. I hope it's chilling out a bit, or starts to very soon.

Hope the weather does as well. The weather here is being all over the place, but I'm hoping it stays cool until term's over. Then I'll be free to eat ice cream and go for long walks and find a job

[identity profile] madcolt.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Insanity is finally *finally* chilling out. *knocks wood with great force*

I feel like lately I've been either freezing or really hot all the time, but that's pretty standard for springtime up here...ice cream ftw!

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to hear it. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Spring here is normally the wettest thing ever, but this year we've already got droughts setting in in the south, and the reservoirs up here aren't looking as full as they should. Last year was really dry too :/

[identity profile] madcolt.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
We've had the warmest winter in forever up here, and now spring is the hottest it's been in a few years...except when it's freezing. :P

Bipolar weather. The bees are disappearing. It's totally aliens. (My husband has taken to watching Doctor Who with our son as he falls asleep, so I'm all aliens-y, lol.)

It's the Daleks. All the Daleks' fault.

[identity profile] madcolt.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Every time!

[identity profile] caladria.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So many shots. So little rain. How? (I live on the edge of Yorkshire and not in Lancashire so I get to say things like that, right?)

Good luck with the dissertation! End's in sight now.

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they must have been taken in one day last year, or possibly the year before, because they used the same footage in last year's video. (You get to say things like that if I get to say 'omg how can you live so close and we've never met up and geeked out yet?' and suggest that we do that sometime this summer)

The end is indeed in sight. Too damn close in some respects. Eek!

[identity profile] caladria.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Real Life looms! It's okay, you know. There are paychecks involved.*

We ought to geek out, if you're anywhere near! I only moved to Co. Durham/Teesside last month, so you're still pretty quick off the mark.

*sometimes, eventually, when a job happens. But it will!

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I could cope with the paychecks if it weren't for the work that goes with them :P I'm hoping to get an internship next year, anyway (if they ever post the details, grrr) and then drag Lali to Australia.

We're in York, so pretty close. Definitely do-able anyway :D That would be awesome. I've been trying to arrange a gather for a while, because there's loads of us up this end of the country.

[identity profile] caladria.livejournal.com 2012-04-22 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
York is doable, definitely (I think it's less than an hour from Darlington?)

I thought you were down south in Sheffield or Huddersfield or something.

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-23 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It probably is. It seems to be less than an hour from everywhere.

My parents are over in Halifax and I spend quite a lot of time there, but I'm at uni in York and planning on staying here for a while

Beautiful video! I was all 'I've been there!' I live in Yorkshire and there's loads of places I'd like to visit. :)

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's amazing, isn't it? They were playing it on the big screen outside the Barbican before the conference, and I stood there entranced to watch it twice through. How could anyone ever leave here?

Curious mind wishes to enquire which part of Yorkshire?

I live nearish Hull. So it's not the nicest area, but there's Leeds, York and Beverly quite near for travelling to, all of which I love.

[identity profile] fiwen1010.livejournal.com 2012-04-16 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh cool. My brother's at Hull uni.

Out of interest, how do you feel about NaNoWriMo? (I'm not the ML, I just organise everything :P)
bluebellanon: (Default)

[personal profile] bluebellanon 2012-04-16 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
ML?

I think it's a good idea if you've got the willpower. I could never commit to writing that much over such a short period of time.

Municipal Liaison. Mod, essentially.

Ah, shame. It's a good fun group in Yorkshire, best writing group I've ever been part of. We mostly sit around in a cafe in York and eat cake, and ship the regional mascots together.

Aw, that sounds like such fun! Maybe one day I'll find the time. :)

One day. One day we will lure you into our cakey ways. Or you could just come along and laugh at us cheerlead
