We're getting back to the wine thing. Did you know that sparkling wines were invented in England? We developed the technology to make the bottles thick enough before anyone else, so we had the monopoly. Of course we also then developed coal-fired industry before anyone else, and that wasn't condusive to making more wine, but there's a scattering of vineyards across southern England and Wales now.

During the Roman period there was at least one vineyard as far north as York, because it was so much warmer back then.

I am a fountain of useless information :P
