I think he honestly sees them as his kids. It certainly seems that way through most of that episode, although that could just be because they're so childish in it. I had forgotten about the pity party, and I wanted him to send Gwen and Owen to their rooms. Then Tosh will be allowed to sit up and watch TV with the grownups.
