Cardiff Trip Day 7

Oh my God, the St David's is amaaaazing. I had a top floor room with a view right across the Bay to Mermaid Quay and the Millennium Centre, enormous bed, big bath, and a bottle of Rosé champagne.

Boy was I feeling that in the morning.

You see, I'd paid for it (by accident, apparently), so I thought I might as well drink it. And it was very pleasant, and it made Mock the Week seem even funnier than it usually is, and after MTW finished I took the last glass out onto the balcony in my pyjamas and raised a toast to Ianto Jones and Jack Harkness, and to Torchwood and Cardiff, and I spoke to someone on MSN but I can't quite remember who and then I fell into bed and slept.

And in the morning I had my first ever hangover. It was sort of a pay-off. I couldn't enjoy breakfast properly because my constitution was a little unsettled, although I could tell that it was excellent, and the sausages are great. Om nom nom will visit again sort of great. The scrambled eggs were beyond me, sadly. Next time I will not drink. Or I'll make someone come with me and help me drink so we can share the hangover.

I spent most of the day and part of the afternoon feeling vulnerable (possibly not just the hangover, as it did last a long time, and feeling queasy and headachey is sadly normal), but I sat by the Shrine for a while and let Ianto nurse me and the amusement at visitors to the Shrine cheer me up, and then made it to my hostel and went to bed for a bit.

By the early evening I was feeling much better and tripped gaily out of the hostel and into town, a very short walk from the Nomads hostel, where I went to KFC for dinner and wandered down to Bute Park to eat it. I sat above the river, in a shady grove of trees, and was enjoying the solitude until a weird guy from Pakistan decided that he wanted to talk to me. Talking about learning languages was fine, but when he got on to asking me if I had a boyfriend (repeatedly, even after I told him I don't date men and that I'm just not dating at the moment because of university) it got a bit weird. I escaped eventually and meandered my way back through town to my hostel, where I did some work on my casestory bigbang and then went to bed.

Oh poor you, I hate those moments with the creepy guys, always unsettling. Thing is, you feel you want to be friendly, but it's how to work out quickly that they are being creepy and extricate yourself. I often try not to engage much in the first place, then mutter that I have to go and leave. Always a bit scary though. I too seem to get them on buses.

First ever hangover?
*hands over pain meds*

I can't think of a nicer way to get one, champagne, view, toast to good friends, definitely better than some of the ones I have suffered through.
I look forward to seeing all the photos from the trip!

You are a nut case. (I mean that kindly - and fondly) Is that really your first hangover?

Really enjoying your tales.
