I can cope with story arcs - love them in fact, but that's not the same as being able to sustain my interest in a single story over several weeks. Give me a theme to follow for a few weeks, even series, and I'm like Sherlock Holmes all over that breadcrumb trail. Expect me to remember anything non-obscure that happened last week? Maybe. Three weeks ago? Not a chance.

Which means that they have to overexplain things for me to remember them, and I hate it when they do that. Not a format that agrees with me at all.

And I know what you mean about loving Torchwood in all its formats, but MD to me just isn't Torchwood. There comes a point where it stops being the original and becomes a spin-off, and taking away most of the characters, the iconic location, the format and the theme... far and away crosses that line for me.
